It also was not wasted on Chips, who had flown that aircraft in 1989 and in fact was featured on a professionally made Christmas card in December, 1989 in that very jet the tail number of which ended in 498. It was unremarkable except for two things: it did not arrive in Fargo with the original issue of F4Ds numbered 64-0937 through 64-0979 and it had a few spare parts. Not spare parts such as the Boeing Uninterruptible Autopilots or QRS11s that were deployed on UA93, UA175, AA11 and AA77 nor like the similar parts on the 96 Baby Boeings reconfigured in Abbottsford, British Columbia. No, this rather ordinary F4D has some "loaner parts" from a Connecticut based Optical company and a North Carolina based corporation that supplied everything from soup to nuts, or more properly S-80 subs to nacelles. The purpose for #498's late arrival in Fargo was not widely known, at least in Fargo. Dwarf in Canada and Tango Whiskey in Denver had participated in the 'upgrades' that made 498 special and that partnership is why Dwarf and Tango were aboard the Ace 1 flying over Lake Michigan on 12-26-08 when November 319SA and the Blue F4 arrived after being 'trailed' across Canada by two CF18s that shadowed them from Goose.

As Hoss settled into the left seat of the A319 he asked Stone "Where we at pardner?".
Stone’s response indicated that they had just left the hold over Muskegon VOR, 115.2, and that Dumbo would be joining them at the MDW 040/50 at 11,000 feet and 230 knots. After strapping himself in, Hoss pushed AP1 and told Stone, "Thanks Stone, I've got it. I hope Tango Whiskey is listening to us still." At that time a green diamond blinked three times at the MDW 040/50 fix that Stone had built into the flight plan.
"Tied" was the single word transmission that Hoss spoke over victor. In the headset a click click indicated Tango, Skymaster and Dwarf had their position as well. With Chips sitting on the center jump seat, Lizard came forward and asked "Are you sure the helo is waiting at Slick?"
"I don't chew my cabbage twice, Mam" was the sardonic reply from the laconic Stone.
Seeing the confusion of madame hedge fund, Chips interpreted "My son Stone told you once, he does not repeat himself. Your Puma is aware of our ETA and parking position at Slick." The Blue F4 tightened up in formation to the point where Hoss could feel the presence so Hoss kicked of the autopilot and did some of the pilot stuff that he'd been doing since the late 60s. [Note Hoss couldn't talk about any flying prior to 1972 when he signed on with Northliner Airlines - NCA]. Stone had always wondered what Hoss had done previously but he understood that not all flying is logged in the logbooks, and people like David Ferrie, Barry Seal and his father Chips sometimes do what their country needs to have done.
Hoss explained to Stone "Roughrider obviously sees Dumbo joining on us hence the closer formation." At that point Hoss pointed with his right index figure at the AC46K that was joining in fairly tight formation on the left wing.
"Sensors normal, mission green" came from outside the Airbus, Hoss knew that Tango was pleased with the traffic situation in a 50 mile radius of Dumbo, flight of three. Hoss spoke "Midway approach, 124.05, push".

Hoss reduced the power slightly by selecting -1500 on the VSI and Dumbo and Roughrider stayed glued in position. As Chips was acting as a gull-watcher he noticed a message on the right hand 27 Kilo screen from Tango "just snagged an IM from the lady in back, she's ratting you out to ACORN Philly, standby for fix". Chips leaned forward and hit the acknowledge button once knowing that Tango's voice splicer would reverse the call and provide for a happy landing.

180 and contact Midway tower."

As the three aircraft slowed and descended, Dwarf in Dumbo deployed his trailing antenna and lowered the MAD boom while Tango got an optical feed from a pal at NRO so that he could surveil the arrival corridor and the parking spot. Three minutes from touchdown, all players heard Tango's report "Tango Green" and knew it was not a dance step for people deluded by Gore.
"Dumbo, floater, nose 3 miles" was a calm call from Dwarf in the Commando Solo Ace 1.
Roughrider's voice commented only "engaged" as the Blue F4 accelerated forward and down towards the recently surfaced submersible whose lack of wake indicated it was 'dead in the water'. If Tango and Roughrider didn't get a friendly ID soon it would be dead in the water.
While Roughrider did a hasty fence check and armed the weapons, they saw a white flag being waved from the bridge as Tango Whiskey transmitted "friendly". Roughrider broke of his tracking solution and flew by the vessel at 20 feet above Lake Michigan with Sluggo in the back of the Phantom taking a series of digital photos.
"Elmer Perkins" was transmitted followed by an interrogative, "Was that Perkin Elmer?"

After the flight of three had joined the centerline of 31 Right, Tango and Dwarf transmitted "Green range, Roughrider cleared off" and the Blue F4 turned to the northwest to recover at Milwaukee's Mitchell Airport with the Phantom concealed in the hanger at the tanker unit; across the field from Dumbo's hangar at the C130 base.
"Tango, 3, 2, 1". Simultaneously a tape recording of some of Lizard's choicest comments were broadcast to every Rodin bronze that had been stolen from Cantor Fitzgerald's office pre-9/11. Boardrooms and bedrooms across the evil empire were confused by Lizard's loose lips, and some bent on silencing her. The Puma lifted off returning Lizard to her office tower. SWAN-E and Patrick Fitzsimon got in the back of the black Crown Vic and Wrigley Field was provided transportation to the airline terminal to catch a pair of Delta Airbus flights to Minneapolis and on to Fargo. After the last official car had cleared the area, a 1996 LT1 Fleetwood pulled up driven by a Clinton Reubens. As Hoss, Stone and Chips put their duffels in the trunk, Stone indicated to Clinton that Stone would be driving. Stone put the Air Force two-star plates and flags on, turned on the red lights behind the grill and contacted ground control to gain permission to run Hoss over to the terminal where he would catch the same Airbus to Minneapolis as Wrigley Field but then split off to a Delta DC9 heading to Rapid City. At about the same time Roughrider was meeting Dumbo, the AC46K was taxied to the C130 ramp at Mitchell.
After Roughrider had gained access to Tango's crew car, a blue Mercury Fulminate, with Colorado plates, Skymaster, Tango and Dwarf exited the Commando. Roughrider
handed them each a Grolsch beer and said "I've briefed the transient alert folks, Ace 1 will be fueled then put away for the night. We need to hot foot it up to the Red Carpet Inn for a Clipper conference with Chips, Hamish and Priscilla.
The four men boarded the Mercury Fulminate and Roughrider drove off behind an Air Police vehicle arranged to get them across the runway. After they had crossed safely, he silently held up a piece of paper with a hand written note. "Red Carpet renamed and compromised; we will all split at the memorial at the 128th Air Refueling Wing Headquarters. 4 taxis, 4 routes, all ending Wyndam Room 911." Dwarf, Skymaster and Tango mentally jotted down Wyndam. The room number was such that a mental note sufficed for all.
Once they arrived at the monument, the four quickly got into the 4 waiting cabs and took individual rides and routes to the rendezvous at the Milwaukee Airport Wyndam. It was just after dark that the four men checked in at the hotel as individuals and awaited their clipper calls in their rooms. At 1900 hours their calls came in the form of a collective IM and simply said "9-11, 1915, Fish".

Wally and Fish had their common friend JT3 listening into the meeting through a wire in Wally's boutonnière.

At just before 1930 the 3-D image of Hamish's head regained real time motion and at precisely 1930 coordinated universal time Hamish addressed those in Room 911, Chips and Clinton on the street through their IPOD earpieces as well as Dancer in Geneva and Moshe in Tel Aviv.

When Sluggo approached the Pizza truck, he noticed some interesting antenna's arrayed on top of the refrigerated van body. Once Sluggo was inside and the delivery door closed, he introduced himself to Hamish who he recognized from the image inside the 27-kilo. Hamish encouraged Sluggo to sit on a sofa that was next to a desk upon which was another 27-kilo. At that time Perkin Elmer was the leading producer of monocles in Philadelphia. The original Perkin Elmer fashioned the monocle that Teddy Roosevelt wore at San Juan Hill and later in Medora, North Dakota. At one point an F16 belonging to the 119th Fighter Wing of the North Dakota ANG had a painting of Teddy and his monocle on the side of an F16ADF similar to the 4 F16s deployed over Washington, New York and Pennsylvania on 9/11. The company went on to produce more optical equipment for the defense industry and inspired the 1982 hit by the Alan Parsons Project "Eye in the Sky". Well, my parents thought Elmer was a great first name because our family surname was Perkins so they interpreted this as a communiqué from God through the Mohel."
While Elmer, or Sluggo as he preferred to be called, rested his tongue Hamish replied "What a wild coincidence. The man we are meeting tonight in Chicago, Clinton Reubens was the sole child of a teenage mother in the south side of Chicago. She was not sure who the father was so she called the DJ of a soul music station in Philadelphia and asked the DJ for a first name and a last name that would sound good for a young Afro-American male. The DJ apparently thought it was a crank call so he opened a Philadelphia phone book and looked in the yellow pages for defense attorneys. The smallest ad in the yellow pages was for Clinton Rubin Law Firm and the DJ relayed this to Clinton's mother. She was eating a reuben sandwich with extra sauerkraut at the time so she named her boy Clinton Reubens and helped herself to four more reuben sandwiches. Clinton's mother married a sailor from Glenview Naval Air Station and they moved to Annapolis when Clinton was just 3. To this day Clinton's mother still works at the Rams Head Tavern in Crownsville, Maryland and it is she who made the recipes for both the Elroy's Reuben and the Parson's Reuben on the Rams Head menus.

My friend, Selmer was driving from Detroit Lakes to the Minneapolis airport and lost his signal to AM 1100 out of Fargo. He then dialed in KSTP 1500 in the Twin Cities and picked up 'the rest of the story' being told by the DJ whose name he thought was Jason Lewis."

The 3 x 5 was put in view of the fake Rodin next to the 27 Kilo and Chips could clearly read "GLENN BECK".
Interactively from inside the 27 Kilo Chips asked, "Glenn Beck, is he the guy from Wapheton, North Dakota that used to build P51 Mustangs with Odegaard?"
"No Chips, that was Gerry Beck, rest his soul. Glenn Beck is a gutsy interviewer who may be willing to have you on sometime for an interview. By the way, how is it you knew Gerry Beck Chips" asked Sluggo.
"Well, my best friend’s father, Paul O. Bye, had been a Hump pilot in the CBI Theater during WWII. He left active duty after the war but continued to fly at the Happy Hooligans, where Chips and Roughrider flew the Phantoms and Falcons. His father had a light aircraft and between the guard, WWII and light aircraft he knew everyone within 100 miles of Fargo who could operate a stick and rudder....."
"I bet he didn't know the 2 pilots of the North Dakota ANG C54 which tried to move a mountain in Alaska in 1969" interrupted Sluggo.
"Sure he did, everyone around Fargo knew the names Don Flesland and "Jimmy" Stewart In fact my best friend's father, as well as my best friend, knew every 'flying doctor' or flying attorney or judge within 100 miles of Fargo. Aviation is a small community....." as Chips stopped talking briefly as a Clipper 'immediate' call came into his clipper squirt gun he finished with a brief good-bye. "Sluggo and Hamish, an immediate clipper is coming in from Moshe and Dancer, signing off the 27 Kilo at this time and going to clipper, Chips out".
Chips focused on his clipper squirt gun and saw that Fish, Hamish, himself and Skymaster were all 'in the loop'. He selected 'green'. "Chips, Dancer with Moshe, we have some very sensitive information regarding Gaza and 'human shield'. Please call back on Clipper at exactly 2200 your time from Chicago. Also for this one call please get 'the new kid in town' and SWAN-E in the loop no matter what you have to spend, or who you have to burn. This is huge. Dancer out."

At the same time that Dancer abroad and Moshe in the EITAM signed off, a joint communiqué was received at the Fargo headquarters of HawksCAFE as well as on the AQFB27-Kilo that Hamish and Sluggo were watching, as well as Chips' clipper squirt gun.
