The 65 year old airframe hit some Canada Geese. Hoss told Chips to knock off his ‘capeche’ French what with Francophonie use of police and first responder pension funds to short WTC steel and the Louisiana Windpool! Time was of the essence. General Dynamics intercept shows Barry’s Boys and the Obamarxists trying to cleanse breech points before February 2; they haven’t twigged Cosmic Muffin is equipped with FIPS 140-2 cryptographics to fly the COOP. Nano sends forensics on patents  used in Katrina scam: Patented bridge igniter for UNDEX, Gyrochip for yaw, roll and pitch of ploat; Submersible planing boat hull, submerged  to avoid detection, lowered into water and lifted out by helicopter; Sheet steel piles to secretly drive short lengths so levees failed at water level of 11 feet; Authernative Cryptographic Module to protect  ignition signal and futures and coordinate 9-1-1 Acornista enforcers and clean up crews. Evidence kicks in Obama's crony bank Northern Trust hedging CCFE IFEX with illegal insurance and reinsurance contracts. Chicago Climate Exchange Inc Richard Sandor Chairman & CEO  runs  all big futures contracts ( Mumbai attack)  with General Dynamics C4 and BlackBerry 9-1-1. Cosmic Muffin directed to find BlackBarry unit; check for thumbprints. Nano message "Rathke BlackBarry located" never received. Chips had to choose between pressing on to Turkey to resolve Gaza/Israel dynamic or return to New Orleans to  unseat 'alien occupant of White House'. As he mulled his options, the back end of the AC46K was plunged into darkness.
............................................................................

As the AC46K airframe settled down Tango reported "all systems normal, all sensors clean" while Fish pulled the power back to 938 TIT to survey the engine readings.

"Climb power normal, oil pressures normal, all engine parameters normal.  What do you think that 'thunk' was?"

Chips was the first to hazard a guess "If this was NYC I'd say we hit a flock of Canadian geese heading north up the Hudson; however if Fish will turn on the wing illumination lights I bet we have a 'cooked goose' or two somewhere on our leading edges. If it had hit the radome we'd have pâté de foie gras all over the windscreen" as he surveyed the windshield with a large mag-light, the kind that uses four 'D' cell batteries and doubles nicely as a nightstick.  He handed the blue mag-lite to Tango in the right seat as he went back to inspect the wing's leading edges.  Moments later he returned wearing a wet-suit and carrying a small rucksack that was attached to his parachute harness with a lanyard.

"Gee Chips, are you so worried about your inspection that you're leaving us?" asked Fish, partially in jest, although it was a nervous jest.  Prior to answering he concluded a brief conversation on his clipper squirt gun with Sluggo who was holding down the 'on scene commander' duty in Chicago.

"Not nervous at all" said Chips as he checked his clipper for an incoming TM from Hoss.  Hoss indicated he and Waylon were estimating on target, on time. Chips acknowledged via TM with a 'mission green' response.  "In fact I determined that we have some bird remains out near the far end of the right wing so that 'thunk' we endured was a goose or two being goosed by this AC46K.  Not to change the subject, but Tango if you search for a trio of transponder codes 3001, 3002 and 3003 you might see them converging about 15 miles south of New Orleans near the coast line.  Let me know what you find."  Tango scanned his horizontal display, nodded his head and hit 'print' on his console.  Out of the Airbus on-board printer a nice glossy of the horizontal situation showed the coastline, the Air Station at Belle Chasse, with 3001 and 3002 one half mile south of the Air Station.  3003 showed as a series of returns coming from northwest to southeast and had some data attached in the form of: 145, 1500, 340, 3003.  Tango understood what was going on even though neither he nor Fish had been briefed.  This contact 3003 was airborne and heading 145 degrees at 1500 feet MSL and 340 knots with a transponder code of 3003.

"Chips, why the secrecy, are you holding anything else back from me and Fish?" asked a justifiably upset Tango.

"Not in the least Tango, however Fish got on board via a Fulton extract and I wanted him to get comfortable in the AC46K so he would feel better about landing at the Coast Guard Station in the dark.  3001 is a surface vessel, the 'Cosmic Muffin' at anchor off the air station, 3002 is a participating HH65C rescue chopper from the Coast Guard and 3003 is a P2T, in fact the only P2T in the world and it is going to rendezvous with 3001 and 3002 in less than 10 minutes.  We don't have time to talk, you need to hook me up to the Fulton extraction cable and then dangle me out the rear of the aircraft.  The P2T will be closing from our stern to take me aboard through the celestial hatch and if that fails I will free fall into the water near the 'Cosmic Muffin'......Fish, please fly this profile precisely”  as he handed Fish a profile flight plan, “and as close to on time as your Navy background will allow.  Amelia has clippered me that the DEA and FBI will be looking for me when you guys taxi in from landing so I have all my stuff in the ruck sack and Sluggo has assumed my identity in Chicago and so the Chicago FBI office believes I am up there.  By the time they figure out who's on first, Nano and I will have the evidence from the 4 breach points and I will be safely enroute to Istanbul with Sable. A declassified 'status briefing' is in the briefing folder so when the G-men come to the aircraft let them find it and they will then have all the information we want them to have.  Fish, any questions?"

"Negative Chips, ETA Point 1 in 4 minutes, we are on course, on speed, at altitude ready to 'trail Chips'."   As Chips and Tango hustled back to the aft door they could feel the aircraft depressurize so Tango unlocked the door while Chips 'clipped on' the lanyard and lowered his googles.  Tango checked his harness and lanyard and gave him a thumb's up.  On a light panel over the door  a yellow light was illuminated with a countdown in progress signaled in green lights: 4,3,2,1, "deploy" and when the green deploy illuminated Tango forced the door open against the wind stream and put Chips out into the early morning darkness.  On the overhead panel he saw a 3003 return closing from the rear and he fed out more lanyard to put Chips 500 feet behind the AC46K.  As Fish held the Commando on course, on speed and at altitude Hoss and Waylon flew under the suspended Chips and Waylon snared Chip's lanyard with a steel shepherd's crook.  As Hoss held the P2T steady Waylon put a hand on Chip's harness and disconnected the lanyard.  In the AC46K Tango sensed the reduction in tension and reeled in the lanyard as Fish turned due north to land prior to sunrise.  As Waylon pulled Chips through the celestial hatch a smiling Hoss said "Welcome aboard Chips, where to?"

"That all depends Hoss, please circle back to 3001 and check for a red or green light.  If we see red, you take me towards Destin, if we see green, I jump into the water, capeche?"

"Knock off your ‘capeche’ French Chips, if it wasn’t for Francophonie use of police and first responder pension funds to short WTC steel and the Louisiana Windpool, we never would have to be solving 9-11, Katrina and the Purple Barney presidency" was the terse reply from the normally mild mannered Hoss.  As Waylon settled into the right seat of the P2T the 3001 code was on the nose at a mile and a half.  As Hoss bore down on the yacht a blinking green beacon went steady green.  Hoss and Waylon turned to Chips as Chips handed them a simple written instruction: "do a second approach from the same azimuth, this time at 100 feet AGL, 90 knots, flaps 2 and depressurized, wiggle the rudders when I should jump.  Then recover at Eglin Aux Field to pick up the Super Puma.  See you tonight in the French Quarter, Pat Obrien's 1930, cheers."

Hoss did a pair of 180 degree turns to put himself back on the run-in azimuth. Waylon monitored the radio altimeter to ensure the P2T remained above sea level.  On course, on speed and at the correct altitude Hoss waited until he was almost on top of the Cosmic Muffin before 'wiggling' the rudders.  As the P2T flew past the Cosmic Muffin the search light from the HH65C Dolphin chopper illuminated Chips in the water.  Chips gave a thumb's up to the helo, whereupon the search light was doused and the Dolphin departed to recover at the Coast Guard Air Station.  As Chips swam in the warm salt water a blinking green light at the waterline of the Muffin led to a submerged series of steady and dim green lights.  Holding his breath and swimming underwater Chips followed the dim green lights to an opening below the Cosmic Muffin.  As he surfaced in the opening a smiling Nano handed him a Grolsch and said, "Long time, no see, thanks for the work".

As Chips climbed aboard a crewman sealed off the submerged hatch and he and Nano seated themselves in a room where he could take off his wet-suit and dress from his water-tight rucksack.

"Nano, thanks for responding on such short notice.  We only have a brief window in which to work.  The storm is supposed to come up by early afternoon and our intercepted messages from our General Dynamics agent in Chicago indicates Barry’s Boys and the Obamarxistsare going to try and cleanse the breech points before February 2. They haven’t twigged the Muffin is equipped with FIPS 140-2 cryptographics to fly the COOP” (Readers note that Chips ‘COOP’ is referring to a Clinton-Rubin acronym for ‘Continuity of Operations Planning’ of a Francophonie coup d'état) “Does the skipper of the vessel have what he needs to get us close to the levee and stay there in 15 foot seas?"

"Better than that Chips.  As you know this vessel was made from the airtight fuselage of a 1939 Boeing 307 Stratoliner.  The autopilot of this Cosmic Muffin is stabilized by the same QRS11 GyroChips that Hillary's Rose Law buddy Joe Gigoir produced at BEI so we could be gyrostabilized up to 25 foot seas and 50 knot winds.  However, that will not be necessary as we can be submerged and let the storm occur over head while we recover residue from the four levee breech points working totally underwater, and out of the storm."

Chips was intrigued.  "Do you mean that the Cosmic Muffin is going to be, in effect, a submarine?"

"It could be if needed.  However, the Skipper, Joachim Albogas, plans to  attach his keel to a sunken merchant vessel with two steel chains and hoist the Cosmic Muffin down 6 to 8 feet lower in the water so that the bridge will be above the surface but the vessel will be effectively welded to the wreck below and therefore, very stable.  Let's go up to the bridge, Captain Albogas is waiting for us at the navigation table."  As Chips had changed into a red bathing suit with matching flowered 'Magnum PI' shirt and tan deck shoes, the pair went forward and up to the bridge deck where an old friend sat at a well lit navigation table having a cup of green tea with lemon.  As they entered the nav room Chips' clipper took a TM from Sluggo. "P2T at Destin, Puma enroute Muffin, ACE2 at
CGAS, FBI disappointed". Chips saw that both Amelia and Fish were copied in and realized what an asset Sluggo was.

"Chips, welcome aboard.  I hope you don't plan to destroy this yacht like you did the Albogas 37" joked the smiling Portuguese Captain.

"Not at all Joachim, any problem piloting this one of a kind ploat, or is it a blane?"

"Chips, I don't know what to call it either but it handles well for a 56 footer. The visibility is a little reduced, especially when reversing.  However, for the brief time for which we need it is the perfect craft.  The dive platform you entered from is well stocked with equipment and there is even an on board decompression chamber although at the shallow depths you and Nano will work it will not be a factor.  Come let me show you the plan" as Joachim pulled out two high chairs for Chips and Nano.  Sprawled across the navigation table was a two dimensional view of the levee and the 4 breech points marked A, B, C, and D in red.  Centered to the south 1500 feet was a symbol marked CM in Blue and four underwater lines in green.

"Nano and I have determined it is best to keep the Cosmic Muffin tethered to the wreck below.  We will have it facing due south in case we need to abort the mission and put out to sea in the event the storm is worse than forecast.  We have two 3 man subs to ferry you, Nano and Ariel to the breech sites.  At each site we have pre-positioned the same submersible robots that were used during Katrina, however we have reduced the explosives to a point that if we decide to blow, there will be adequate residue left for Barry and the Boys once we have harvested the real residue.  Further, we have copied the same serial numbers onto the registrations so if our former patent-lawyer informant at Lafarge was accurate, we should leave discernable evidence of the correct serial numbers where they would have been during the hurricane.  Ariel is a former Coast Guard PJ who was on active duty at Belle Chasse during Katrina and she had her home taken by the ACORN abortionists so she is very motivated and capable of helping.  She will be joining us in, well according to my ship's clock, in about 3 minutes.  She is aboard a Super Puma helo that, according to the radar on the bridge, is approaching from the east as we speak; let's go topside."  As Nano and Chips followed Joachim up a circular ladder they all exited onto a small enclosed deck just aft of the bridge.  In the early morning light they could see a rotating beacon approaching from the east.  As the beacon drew nearer they could make out a yellow Super Puma with a swimmer on a lanyard about 40 feet below the chopper.  Hoss and Waylon dropped her into the water to eliminate any static discharge then hoisted her up to the platform. Once aboard the platform she disconnected and gave Hoss a thumb's up.  Hoss and Waylon moved 1000 feet away and hovered, awaiting a signal.

As Ariel took off her mask and snorkel, she retrieved a handwritten message from Hamish that she had rolled into her waterproof fanny pack.

Chips and Nano read the brief message:

“Let's not worry about the monkey when the Global Custodians - now with $88 trillion assets under management - are grinding their organs in the room.”
http://web.archive.org/web/20010820234206/http://www.buttonwood.com/index.html

Chips recognized the misquote of Winston Churchill's admonition against negotiating with a monkey while the organ grinder is in the room.  He thought about Obama, Rockefeller and Buttonwood and decided it was a good day for a swim in the surf.  Chips motioned for Hoss and Waylon to 'recover' and they knew that that meant the underwater portion was going live.  With the Super Puma lifting off towards the Coast Guard station, Captain Albogas began reversing the Cosmic Muffin to 'take tension' over the merchant wreck and prepare to put the 3 swimmers in the water.  As the tension was being taken and the Cosmic Muffin being simultaneously stabilized and pulled lower into the water, the first gusts of the approaching storm buffeted the Cosmic Muffin.  As Captain Albogas set the diesel engines to low idle, he noticed a Coast Guard Cutter putting out to sea as an HH65C flew overhead taking pictures.  He rubbed his week old beard and wondered if the Coast Guard was as corruptibly led today as they were on 9-11 when they were forced to help sanitize the 'drop box' where AA77, AA11 and UA175 met their watery fates.  He decided to give the Coasties something they could work with so he cast unbaited hooks into the water from 3 surf fishing rigs and settled down to watch the bobbers as the coasties overhead watched the Muffin.  From his clipper monitor he saw that the swimmers were in the escape chamber and he thought that before the storm reached full strength, they would have what they came for and then seek the safety of a safe harbor.

image17

After loitering over the Cosmic Muffin for less than 10 minutes the coasties left their orbit and withdrew to shore. Captain Albogas repaired to the bridge below to monitor the under water portion on both sonar and the live – and of course patented – aqua-cam.  He saw that S-1 was on station at 'Breech 1' and with the aqua-cam he could see Nano sweeping the area with a monitor not unlike a Geiger counter.  He would then place little flagpoles made of plastic over strong returns.  When he had the area marked he gave a thumbs up to Chips and Ariel who then dragged the sandy bottom with a tubular vessel about 5 feet long with a tubular shape and an open leading edge.  When they had the flagged area gathered, Ariel attached a steel lanyard to the handle and inflated a sturdy balloon to mark the location.  The balloon lanyard allowed the helium filled weather balloon to fly about 20 feet above the mean sea level, MSL.  As Ariel deployed the marking balloon, Nano mounted the 3 person sub as Chips ensured the replacement robot was 'armed' for remote detonation.  As Ariel and Chips joined on seats 2 and 3 Nano motored to the second breech point.  The same procedure was accomplished at all four breech points, in each case marking the outline of high return areas, scavenging the sand therein, and deploying a marker balloon.  Less than 40 minutes later the three boarded S-1 and headed due south to recover from below the Cosmic Muffin.  As the crewman secured S-1 into its recovery bay, Ariel, Nano and Chips helped each other out of their scuba gear.  Then for the first time Ariel and Chips noticed 4 small sacks suspended around Nano's dive belt.  They were about the size of 5 pound flour bags and made of rubberized material.

Nano noticed them gazing at his belt-booty and offered "I didn't want to risk the samples being lost by the Sikorsky S-61 so I collected these four 'very high return samples', let's go to my lab and analyze them."  As Nano and Ariel headed for the lab Chips responded "I will catch up later but by now the S-61 should be latching on to the 4 samples, I am going topside to watch."

As Chips headed up and forward he saw a worried Captain Albogas pacing the bridge.  "Joachim, is everything okay?"  asked Chips as he saw the concern on the face of his Portugese friend.

"Chips, the storm approaches and I haven't seen the S-61 yet, I hope we don't have to retrieve the 4 slings with the 'Muffin' as it would be difficult in these conditions and that shallow of water".

Chips felt his clipper squirt gun vibrate and saw a TM from Hoss "Posse on the way, small maintenance issue with Sky Crane, ETA 3 minutes, Hoss".

Chips smiled at Joachim and then responded, in text "Hoss, nice work, anything else?"

"We could use a swimmer to help expedite this 4 sling grab, it's getting a little windy and my Sikorsky smoothness ain't what it was when I flew for Civil Air Transport".

Chips responded "I'll be the swimmer" and as he hurried up to dive in he directed Joachim to blow the hold downs and put into safe harbor ASAP.  With that Chips put his clipper, a survival knife and his Glock in his swim-sack and dove in the water off the fantail of the Cosmic Muffin. As he swam towards the marker balloons he could see the Sky Crane attempting to hover over balloon #1.

It was several minutes before he could reach the balloon but the storm surge and the wind help propel him towards shore and the hovering S-61.  As he got to the target he saw the hoist cable was in the water and he swam to it, attached it to the slung cylinder and gave a thumbs up to Waylon.  As Waylon hoisted the first sample Chips swam to balloon #2.  As Hoss hovered over to balloon #2 the hoist cable was lowered so as to strike the water away from Chips to reduce risk of static discharge.  Again Chips retrieved the cable and attached it to the second cylinder's handle.  Once again Waylon hoisted it aboard and lowered the cable as Hoss fought the increasing winds and now sea spray as he worked hard to allow timely retrievals without ditching.  Cylinder 3 was safely aboard as Chips took the hoist cable for the fourth and last time and after he hooked the cable onto the cylinder's handle, he attached his personal lanyard to a second hook a foot higher than the load bearing hook.  With the 4th and final thumbs up he also waved towards shore and as Waylon rewound the cable, Hoss reversed course and started heading towards the Coast Guard Station.

Chips waved at Hoss as he helped Waylon secure the cylinders. As they approached the shoreline at 30 feet above the sea, Chips again waved at Hoss and dropped into the churning sea.  Surfacing in the water and rising to the crest of a wave, he could see the Cosmic Muffin making 15 knots heading due north for Lake Ponchatrain.  He took out his clipper and sent an immediate to Sluggo, Fish and Amelia, "Chips feet dry, ETA Patrick O'Brien's 1930."  As he floated in the surf just offshore he looked at his waterproof Wal-Mart watch and noticed it was 1540 hours.  Perfect, the storm was to get real bad real soon.  As he loitered off shore awaiting his signal a gray fin broke the surface to his east, heading west.  As it was joined by 5 or 6 other fins he realized it was a thoughtful group of dolphins making sure their human friend was not in peril. The dolphins swam under him and resurfaced to the west heading in that same direction. He saw the blinking lights of the HumVee and started swimming to shore to a point from which he could body surf in the last 100 yards.  As he beached himself he held up a green glow stick and waved it 3 times.  The HumVee turned and went lights out.  Shortly thereafter a woman riding a Honda 350 pulled up near him and a smiling Ariel asked if he'd like a ride to town.

"Hey, you're supposed to be on the Cosmic Muffin?" noted Chips as he assumed the stern position astride the Honda.

"And you, sir, are supposed to be in Chicago, at least according to Sluggo and some C4ISR hits purloined from General Dynamics, on Wacker Drive."  Chips noticed she had the Honda doing exactly 25 mph and he realized she was very good at playing by the rules.  He also knew from her dossier that she wasn't too shabby at playing outside of the rules when the mission called for it.  As Ariel approached the Base Operations building Chips could see a yellow Super Puma idling out front.  As Ariel stopped at the gate sentry and displayed her ID the sentry gave a cut signal and opened the gate wide enough for Ariel and Chips to walk along side the Honda and approach the Puma.  Once alongside Chips and Waylon put the Honda in the chopper as Ariel took a seat in the rear.  As Chips strapped down the Honda, Waylon took the left seat of the Puma and Hoss had them eastbound and down, just like in Smokey and the Bandit.  After strapping down the bike, Chips tapped on Waylon's shoulder and asked him "Did you guys fly down in a P2V?"

"No, Chips, it was the P2T, the only one in the world.  Here is a picture of it at H&P in Greybull before it had the Allison 501Ds put on for the P2T conversion" and Waylon laid a nice glossy photo on the floor of the flight deck.

image21

"Gee, I bet that thing scoots along with the Convair engines strapped on.  Do you have a photo it post-conversion?" asked Chips as he wondered what the climb angle might be in a turbo-Neptune.  He remembered seeing a P2V from Roosevelt Roads climb at about 35 degree body angle at an Air show at Ramey AFB in 1964.

"Naa, H&P lent us the aircraft on the condition we only fly it at night just like with the F117 Stealth fighters.  We have it hidden in an alert barn guarded by some Coon Ass Militia friends of Jim Ed Green.  Once we are no longer needed here in New Orleans Hoss and I are going to take off at dusk for a non-stop to Greybull.  That thing trues out at 400 knots over the ground.

Speaking of that, do you have anymore heavy lift missions for the Sky Crane or Super Puma?" asked Waylon as Hoss was now approaching the Cosmic Muffin from dead astern.

"Let me check" responded Chips as he clippered a priority message to Nano in the Lab:  "Nano, status of samples?"

"Paydirt" was the laconic response from the obviously pleased rocket scientist who previously had worked for Pratt and Whitney and some three letter agencies that by their own admission don't exist, “Check your BlackBerry for patent search and forensics”.

Chips thumbed the BB screen and watched it scroll through Nano’s findings.

Chips was busy digesting Nano’s material while the Super Puma hovered over the Cosmic Muffin. The CM commander threw her landlines to the wharf as a tall slender young man with blue chrome sunglasses directed Hoss to a hover landing on the hard surface.  Waylon pointed at Stone and said to Chips "That guy looks a lot like your son".

Chips nodded and said "There is a good reason for that Waylon, but I need to get aboard the Muffin and see Nano, give me 10 minutes."  As Waylon and Hoss secured the yellow chopper Hoss indicated to Stone that they didn't need any fuel and Stone canceled the fuel tanker provided by MAG-41.  Stone and Hoss tethered the rotors as Waylon went aboard the Muffin to track down Chips.  Waylon joined Chips and Nano in the Lab as Ariel and Nano were listing the residue they found worthy in the four 5 pound sacks labeled as property of the US Army Forensic Laboratory at Fort Gillem.  Listed as items identified were 1. Burnt underwater debris chunks from broken levee wall; 2. Traces of boron-enhanced fluoronitramino explosives; 3. PBXN-111  4. Bi-metallic layers from the Talley bridge ignition system 5. Triaxial QRS 11 Gyrochip.

All this was forensic proof that submersible robots had been deployed, some destroyed to blow and remotely breech levees after the near miss of Hurricane Katrina.  Nano was particularly overjoyed that in sample #3 they had captured the registration plate off of robot #3.  Hillary, Michelle,Dorhrn and Northern Trust would have a little difficulty explaining that away through their local ACORN mouthpiece Rathke.

As Hoss and Stone joined the crowd in the lab Stone spoke, "Not to be a party pooper but the Limo is ready in 15 minutes so anyone who needs to freshen up or take a marine corps shower has 15 minutes and counting.  The 1996 LT1 family car from Magnolia Funeral Parlor will be pulling up behind the marching jazz band in 5 minutes for the procession to Pat O'Brien's" as he laid a photo of a jazz funeral procession on the lab table.

image22

"Hey Stone, that family car is a 1939 Chevy, not a 1996 LT1" complained Waylon, making a rookie mistake on his first Abel Danger mission.

"Right you are Waylon, but that is just what they'd expect us to do.  Just like Inspector Clouseau, we must always make them expected the unexpected" commented Stone as he harked back to the Pink Panther flicks he and his father used to watch when they weren't busy watching MASH reruns.  As Stone's voice went silent the sounds of a jazz band could be heard tuning up in the oncoming storm.  As Ariel, Hoss and Waylon appeared ready to go topside, Captain Albogas gave a brief update indicating hazardous weather approaching from the coast.  He felt it was best for himself to stay aboard the Cosmic Muffin and be a radio relay with Sluggo in Chicago.  Chips nodded in agreement just as his clipper squirt gun vibrated and he saw an immediate message from Sluggo, Amelia and Fish.  "Chips, real world turning ugly in Turkey reference Israel, be topside at 1815 for a Fulton Extraction from the Cosmic Muffin. Tango and I are departing the Air Station now in ACE 2; we will be snatching you exactly at 1815 and will be flying directly into the wind.  Due to the storm approaching only use 600 feet of lanyard and we will hit it at 300 feet unless we see a red flare from the Muffin.  Fish out, copy Sluggo, copy Amelia."

Stone looked a little disappointed and the band was waiting so he shook his father's hand and said "safe journey, how bout some beer money" and Chips handed him a
Freedom CCU credit card with in an account number ending in 0178 in the name of Rich McHogeny. As Nano helped usher the revelers out to the 1939 Chevy Family car, Chips took his rucksack, strapped on his Fulton Extraction harness and set the reel-out to 600 feet.  He and Captain Joachim went top side and Chips deployed his balloon and 600 feet of lanyard as Captain Joachim tossed some shredded paper into the air to check wind direction.  Turning to put his rear into the wind, Chips could see the AC46K coming in from downwind, he could tell from the body angle that Tango and Fish were throttled way back with lots of flaps hanging.  This was Fish's first extraction as Commando pilot, and Tango knew from experience in 'Nam what happens on a short lanyard at normal contact speed.  As Joachim made the sign of a cross over his Catholic heart, Chips heard the countdown from Tango Whiskey  "No red flare, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, one, gotcha".  As Fish heard the gotcha he added take-off power and rotated vertically to keep 100 knots indicated as he retracted the flaps and flew into the teeth of the storm.  In his zest to get altitude Fish put the AC46K in IMC which didn't make Chips feel any too warm and fuzzy.  As Tango Whiskey recognized the IMC he uttered 'gotta get better help' under his breath as he increased the reel retract rate to get Chips aboard ASAP for the ride to MacDill.

As the reel retract presented the last 50 feet of lanyard the lanyard color became yellow, then orange, and finally red.  When Tango saw red he halted the electric retract and took over manually to ensure he didn't snap the lanyard and send Chips on a gravity mission that had not been briefed.  As Chips was stabilized outside the door and his harness attached to the lateral pull winch, Tango gave Fish the 'all clear' and Chips and Tango could feel the AC46K strain as at 971 degrees of turbine inlet temperature it accelerated from 100 knots to 300 or so for the dash to MacDill.  As he got out of the Fulton harness and opened his rucksack his clipper indicated one missed message.  "EITAM waiting at MacDill.  Moshe at the helm, Sable enroute from Andrews.  Situation critical near the Red Fish".  Chips understood Dancer's immediate and sent a brief response with copies to Dancer, Fish, Amelia, Sluggo and Hamish.  "Chips ETA MCF2140 local, Sable ETA, EITAM ETD?"

Moments later Sluggo responded first from home plate in Chicago.  "Sable 2127, EITAM 2150, Sluggo".  Green acknowledge lights indicated Dancer, Amelia, Fish and Hamish were all in the loop. Tango peered into his horizontal display and noticed a green diamond symbol approaching from dead astern, a little low, 50 knots overtake.

"Chips, we have a contact, flight of two joining from 6, radar sample indicates F16C, do you have any friends down this way?"

"Tango, probably Duluth Vipers escorting us direct MacDill, this is a real world mission of great magnitude it appears."  As Fish looked low and to the rear he could see the eerie glow of the cockpit of a darkened F16.  He gave the AC a thumbs up and a 'push it up' signal.  The AC nodded and Fish heard a click click also.  He turned to Tango and said "Please start the J47s and idle them for 30 seconds, then slowly increase to 100%".  Tango nodded, hit two masters checked windmilling RPM and introduced fuel.  As the pod jet engines came to life, Tango slowly brought both pods up to 100%.  The barber pole on the airspeed indicator was set at 340 KIAS and as the AC46K accelerated and descended slightly they were approaching 80 knots over barber pole.  Tango shut down the transponder and put all external lights on dim and steady.  Then he handed Chips a Grolsch and offered one to Fish.  Fish indicated 'no thanks' as he asked Tango for an updated ETA MCF.  Tango looked at his technology and answered "2120 if you land straight in".  Fish nodded while Chips reached for the beer Fish had foregone.

Back in New Orleans Nano, Ariel and Stone were receiving the analysis from the materials lab at Loyola University, New Orleans, where a friend of Nano taught physics.  The results of the big scoops mirrored the smaller samples, and also the other 3 registration plates were harvested so it could now be proven that four patented submersible robots had been positioned at the levees and breeched them when detonated remotely through the igniter technology provided by Talley in the Songbird’s backyard.

An excited Nano clippered in some more good news to Hamish, Fish and Chips; they all knew now that the same group who did 9/11 did Katrina.

“Barack Obama's banks, including Chicago's Northern Trust, are into CCFE IFEX (Insurance Futures Exchange) Event-Linked Futures. They are  contract hedging against  economic damages associated with wind outside  framework of conventional insurance and reinsurance contracts. Head honcho is Chicago Climate Exchange Inc Richard Sandor Chairman & Chief Executive Officer +1 312-554-3370, he runs all big futures contracts such as Mumbai with General Dynamics C4 and BlackBerry 9-1-1.”

They must now work fast to determine who manufactured the financial hit on America that necessitated the $700 billion bailout; a bailout that was engineered to be too little, too late and leave a sovereign America eminently pluckable.

ACE 2, the AC46K being flown by Fish to get Chips over to MacDill AFB, made a priority clipper call to Hamish, Amelia and Stone.  Hamish took the call in a New York City cab at 345 Park Ave as he was about to be let into the office building by a night janitor. Amelia was aboard her sailboat on the Chesapeake and Stone was cavorting at Pat O'Brien's in New Orleans.

Chips suggested to the threesome "Tomorrow please ask Captain Albogas to take the Cosmic Muffin to the Industrial Canal location where a LaFarge barge was plowed through the levee as an apparent trigger event for multiple simultaneous breeches of the levees protecting the low-lying parishes to try to trap and drown 60,000 residents (Google Hurricane Pam). A confidential informant at Rathke's office at Elysian Fields suggests that at the moment the levees were being blown with the underwater robots, her boss was on the Lafarge barge with a small group of other participants in the ACORN effort known as Katrina.  Apparently in the excitement of the four-blow breeching of the levees, her boss lost his BlackBarry from the forward right corner of the barge as it fell into the water below.  The water at that location today is 20 feet deep and I believe if Albogas can hover the Cosmic Muffin at that location, Ariel and Nano will be able to locate the missing BlackBarry if it actually was lost at that location.  If the BlackBarry is located, the history of the most recent calls as well as the call completed just prior to the phone's falling overboard will be discoverable.  If the water is as shallow as I believe it to be Ariel and Nano can search via the GyroChip-stabilized Scuba and the underwater lights on the bottom of the Cosmic Muffin.  If a search must be done in deeper water, Captain Albogas understands how to submerge the Cosmic Muffin and utilize it's fully array of electronic search functions. Hamish, please caucus with Nano via clipper to refine search and objectives.  If our lady-friend in General Dynamics home office with Lester Crown in Chicago is correct, then in addition to the last 96 hour history of calls from that BlackBarry unit being retrievable, any finger or thumbprints on the device when it was lost should be retrievable via US Patent 5099131 , for the acquisition and testing of latent fingerprints using upconversion process commonly employed by the FBI, NSA and other organizations that once investigated crimes for the benefit of the American public.  No lengthy reply at this time; will be on the ground at MacDill within 15 minutes; will Clipper for detailed responses when departing MacDill with Sable. Chips".

From his station inside 345 Park Ave Hamish knew of the locating of the sunken BlackBarry and sent a response to Chips :  "Rathke BlackBarry located, retrieval tomorrow at 1000 hours, Cosmic Muffin overhead BlackBarry at this time".

However, the message to Chips was never received and in the late night arrival to MacDill AFB Chips understood that he had a big decision to make at MacDill; press on to Turkey and work for a resolution of the Gaza/Israel dynamic or return to New Orleans and unseat the 'alien occupant of the White House'. As he mulled his options the back end of the AC46K was plunged into darkness.
